Total Confusion

I changed the name of my personal blog for this one posting just to emphasize and draw attention to this subject. I cannot imagine what the authors of this new Medicare Drug Program were thinking when they came up with the guidelines and parameters for getting the most out of this new program. My father-in-law lives with us and we have been trying to figure out how to get the most out of it since it was first introduced.

There is mention of spreadsheets online that you can use to compare the costs of your total drug program. How many people in this age group are really able or have the desire to sit down at a computer and figure out these details?

There are senior centers hosting workshops trying to clear up some of the questions but a lot of the people in this age group are unable to get to these sessions due to health or other reasons. Even if they attended, I'm not sure if they attended they could figure it out.

Some of these seniors are being automatically switched to this program from other benefit programs. Are all of these switches to their benefit or not? Some switches may be to someone elses benefit.

It is my opinion that this program should have been more simple to negotiate and figure out. Most of these seniors have worked all of their lives so why should they be faced with something this difficult at their age.
From what I understand, most of filled with fear and uncertainty that they may loose some of the benefits that thy now have or will be paying more for what they need to exist.

Maybe I am missing something somewhere or I am simple minded and the program is not that difficult to use. Just my thoughts. Any comments are welcome.

Just Rambling

I have had some health problems lately and haven't felt like going much or doing anything very physical. I still go to work every weekday as a necessity. As age creeps up on me and I feel it, along with these come more and more concerns about what is going to happen to people with the rising costs of living especially including the cost of gasoline and heating oil or natural gas. This region of the country has already been hit very hard by the loss of textile companies and jobs related to textiles. This was the textile center of the nation and since its demise has lost a lot of employment opportunities. Not only have we lost the textile jobs, but also many more that were supported by the textile industry. Other retail businesses have had to close because people were not making enough to support them. I had to get out of a restaurant business that had been in operation for 40 years but was supported by the textile plants in its general vicinity. I was lucky enough to have a full time job other than the restaurant on which to rely.

I'm not sure about other parts of the nation and realize that they have some of the same problems that we have, but the yearly wage increases given in this area barely covers the increase in employee insurance costs.

As the weather gets colder we wait each month to see how much our fuel bills have increased. I spoke with the gas company yesterday and the increase is already over 30% from last year. This is going to be very hard on everybody and even more so the fixed income group. Will there ever be an end to this madness. Most families can't afford much more of the increase.

Enough of my ramblings, and I wonder if anyone every reads these intellectual words anyway. At least it gives me a place to vent some of my frustrations and talk when my wife will not listen.

On a more positive note, I have been writing an article concerning advantages of internet dating for the 40 and over group. I hope to have this finished soon. We hear more and more from people in this age group and if your have any stories to tell about dating at this age, we would like to hear from you.

Eliminate Loneliness Through Online Personals

With the Christmas and yuletide season coming on, tis the season for some to be jolly and get caught up in the enjoyment of shopping, decorating, wrapping gifts, cooking, drinking, and partying but for others, tis the season for stress and loneliness. Some of the people who are separated, divorced, or simply between realtionships would just as soon wake up and find that the yuletide season has passed. Parties, family gatherings, or just shopping can be depressing to a person who is alone in their own mind.

Don't spend Christmas alone. Check into communicating with someone through online personals. Just talking with someone on a regular basis can help get you through these lonely times and may completely eliminate the same problem next year.

Real World Dating

******* Two houses, two wives, and $ 36,000 in child support later, I realized that I was doing something wrong. Both of these wives were physically attractive and had the qualities that, at the time, I felt that I needed most. With these assets, all the other needs to keep life going in a positive direction would come on their own. WRONG !!*******

Check out the whole article on the advantages of online personals and dating.

Why Wal-Mart

I just read in the news another episode in the life of Wal-Mart and the illegals. Are others trying to raise their own popularity at the expense of the Wal-Mart name? Why do we never hear of other construction sites being checked for illegals? Kinda throws the emphasis off of the real culprits of the problem and places it on the shoulders of a well known name. It also makes for better copy than if it were about a local or little known construction company.

I've been in the textile industry all of my adult life and I know what it is like to have your industry jobs given to someone else.
